President's Message

The August picnic meeting was another success. The weather was great and the food was wonderful. We also found out more details on the 2007 National Meet. It sound as though everything is in order and moving along nicely. The “Committee” will be asking for help from the general membership as they need it. Be ready to volunteer.

Those of you who did not make the tour to Chippewa Falls missed a great weekend. Gary Rosenberger (with help from Ron Goette) set up a wonderful tour route to get to Paul and Joan Oman’s “malt shop” and car display. Thanks to Paul and Joan for the burgers, fries and pop, and for the open garages full of cars in various stages of restoration. The Saturday night tour and the Sunday show and swap meet were great. Thanks, again to all who helped and to those who participated.

Our September meeting will be held at Broadway Pizza, 2025 NW River Road, in Minneapolis. For those who live on the south side of the metro area and would like to “tour” to the meeting, I have set up a simple route along west River Road. We will meet at the Lock & Dam #1 parking lot near the Ford Bridge at 6:15pm and leave at 6:30pm to travel to Broadway Pizza. To get to the starting point, take Minnehaha Ave to E 46th Street, turn east to 46th Ave S, Turn south (rt) one block to Godfrey Parkway, turn east (It) under the Ford Bridge. The Lock & Dam parking lot is about one block on the right.
Hope to see some of you there.

This is going to be a busy and exciting time for the TCRG. First of all, the TCRG has been accepted as hosts of the 2007 Central National Meet. Our first organizational meeting will be at my house on Sunday, March 5, at 1 pm. Our address is 4387 Joppa Circle, Savage. Hopefully you are interested in helping to put on this meet. Please come to the meeting and see what is planned, and volunteer to become part of this exciting event. If you cannot make it, but want to help, please give Bud Louis or myself a call.

The March regular meeting will feature our annual club auction. Clean out the garage, and bring those unneeded items (which you probably bought at last years auction) and donate them. This is always a well attended and fun event.

The April meeting will be a collection show and tell meeting. Plan on bringing something that you collect. It can be automotive, household, toys, stamps, coins, etc.

The March board meeting will be at Halfpennys at 7 pm on March 8. Also don’t forget the geezer breakfast on March 16 at Bakers Square at 494 and White Bear Ave.

Thank you to all that worked at the World of Wheels, and to those that showed their cars. I have heard a lot of good things about our efforts there.

I have a room reservation at the Elizabeth Inn near Iola for the Friday and Sat. of Iola week.

The February general membership meeting will include a discussion of what activities the membership would be interested in having over the next year. Come, and let’s hear your ideas. Also a vote will be taken on a proposal for holding the Central National Meet in July of 2007. I will not be at this meeting, as Mavis and I will be on a cruise ship somewhere in the Caribbean, but VP Duane Shuck and others have the information to pass along to everyone.

The March meeting will feature the annual club auction, so start gathering up any of those unwanted items that you have around the house to donate to the auction. (like the stuff you bought at last years auction)

The Feb. board meeting will be at Duane and Jean Shuck’s, and Duane is setting up the geezer breakfast for Feb.

Also, don’t forget to sign up to help out at the World of Wheels. There are 2 sign up sheets going. One for gate security, and one for our booth, so sign up for both of them. FREE tickets for those who work security!

I want to thank all the members that brought toys, food items or cash donations at our Christmas meeting. It was very nice to see those tables loaded up so fully. Thank You!!

The annual banquet is coming up fast. We have had a great response with a lot of registrations already. If you have not sent your registration in,
remember the deadline is Jan 12. The banquet is Sunday, Jan 22 at Mancini’s Char House on West 7th. St. in St Paul. Social is 5 pm, dinner at 6 pm.

The Board meeting is Jan 11, 7 pm at my house at 4387 Joppa Circle, Savage. This will be the annual changeover meeting. Out with the old, in with the new board.

The TCRG is seriously considering hosting the Central meet in 2007. Bud Louis has volunteered to co-chair the meet with me, and Bruce Nelson will be an assistant Chairman-Advisor. If you would like to be involved, contact Bud or myself to let us know. Also, we are looking into possible sites to hold the meet. If you have an idea for a location, please check it out, and then call and let us know what you found out.

URGENT, The TCRG needs members to step up and volunteer to serve on the board for next year. So far, Mark Crichton has volunteered to be the Rumble Sheet editor; Duane Shuck, Vice President; Tom Halfpenney has decided to stay on as treasurer; Kent Tabako will stay as membership chairman; Bill Blood will stay on as Secretary. That leaves ONLY the President and Activities Director to be filled. Will YOU volunteer to take over one of those spots? If you haven’t already done so, fill out the annual TCRG Banquet registration form and send it in. We have made it easy to pay your dues and register for the banquet at the same time. You can also bring it to the Dec. meeting. Also contact me if you have a “Zonk” award to give this year.

The December membership meeting will be our annual Christmas party. The Tabako’s will be collecting toys for the Toys for Tots, and the Bloods will be taking donations for the food shelf. (Either non-perishable food or monetary donations will be accepted). Also if you would like to bring some Christmas type goodies to share that would be great. (I like those old fashioned frosted sugar cookies in shapes). We will be playing a game for some FABULOUS prizes. The Dec. board meeting will be at Bill Bloods.

Merry Christmas to all.
