July 2006

Saturday August 5th, 2006 is the date set for our overnighter Car Tour to Chippewa Falls Wisconsin. We will meet Saturday morning at the Perkins Restaurant in Hudson Wisconsin. Take I94 east from St. Paul and after entering Wisconsin take Exit 2 at the top of the hill which is Carmichael Rd. Take a right and go about two blocks and take a left onto Center Drive. The Perkins is set back off of that corner. For those who want to eat breakfast, be there at 8am and for those who want to pass on breakfast, be there by 9am. We will leave exactly at 9am for Chippewa Falls, as there are about 15 cars going on the tour so we need to be on time. I will have my cell phone on for any problems. Call Gary Rosenberger at 651-470-5992. Thank You

Saturday August 5th, 2006 is the date set for the overnighter to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. On Saturday morning we will meet in Hudson, Wisconsin at a location to be named at a later date. The group will travel the back roads to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin a distance of one hundred miles from the Twin Cities.

Club member Paul Oman has invited our club to tour his vast collection of Ford memorabilia, and his collection of fine automobiles. There are a few side trips that are available like the Leinenkugel Brewing Co. or the Cook Rutledge Mansion if time permits.

Saturday evening we will join the local group of car club members for a tour of the country side.

Sunday morning after Church we will attend the Car Show and Swap Meet at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Chippewa Falls. The club will return to the Twin Cities late Sunday afternoon.

If you are interested call Gary Rosenberger at 651-451-2937 for Motel info.

New Brighton Car Show and Swap Meet will be held on August 13th, 2007

Where does the summer go? It’s time to start thinking about the New Brighton Car Show. I had the sign-up sheet at the All Ford Picnic, and I saw most of you, if I missed you, and you want a particular time and duty please call me. We can always use more volunteers.

Tidbits about the Stockyard Days this year – it’s the 26th Annual Stockyard Days event, and they are raffling off a 2006 Mustang convertible. Only 3000 tickets are available, and if you would like a particular numbered ticket (like John Titus always wants number 1946) let me know. They are $20 each. Also it is the 20th Anniversary of the Antique Car Run and there will be special features this year to commemorate that.

I have talked to Ron Goette and he will be bringing the fencing to the Park at 9 am on Saturday August 12th. We could use a few more fence erectors.

On Sunday, August 13th, the usual early morning crew of BJ and Howie have signed up, but we still could us some help in the 8 – 11 time frame — always the busiest!

And the ladies — I already have the ballot tabulation sheets created in a beautiful pastel color this year.

So, pick up the phone and give me a call — now – before you set this down and slightly forget. And to deviate slightly from the All Ford Picnic slogan of MAKE ICE — just wish for nice weather! And as the Bartles and James Wine Cooler commercial said — ‘Thanks for your support’!

The Central National Meet Committee met on June 7th where we mapped out plans for the Meet. Each Committee Lead discussed where they were and the team agreed on plans going forward. Congratulations (and thanks!) Ron Long who found time in his busy schedule to create a terrific Meet logo. The committee voted unanimously to adopt the Logo and slogan “Great River Rendezvous”?. Glad that is behind us! Now we have an identity.

Enclosed in this month’s Rumble Sheet is a teaser advertisement written by Gordy Ditmanson, that includes Ron’s Logo. We are in the process of using this announcement to invite other Regional Groups to the Meet. Also, Bruce Nelson will be taking a stack of these to the Eastern National Meet in New York to solicit support for the Meet as well. Thanks Gordy, and great job!!! We have more of these available. Feel free to contact Bill, Mary or Mark if you would like some.
Our next meeting in July we will continue to add more detail to the plans, develop a legitimate budget, and figure out exactly where we need help from the Club membership. We look forward to getting as many members involved as possible, so nobody has to work too hard. Please contact any of the committee members if you would like to help. You won’t be turned away!
